Tartaric acid is a white crystalline diprotic organic acid. It occurs naturally in many plants, particularly grapes, bananas, and tamarinds, and is one of the main acids found in wine. It is used in the food and drink industry, especially in sweets and confectionery as gives a sour taste. It can also be used as an antioxidant. Norkem offer the L+ Natural Tartaric Acid, but can source Synthetic Tartaric Acid if required. Salts of tartaric acid are known as tartrates, such as Potassium Bitartrate commonly known as Cream of Tartar and Tartar Emetic.
