Melacide SC20

Description

Melacide SC20 is an alternative to the widely used Sodium Metabisulphite for use on prawns and other crustaceans; Melacide SC20 is widely used on both the prawn trawlers and processors in England, Scotland and Ireland. Due to the major health and safety issues surrounding the Sodium Metabisulphite and the Seafish industries drive to reduce the level of S02 residuals in the prawns Melacide SC20 has become the product of choice for many boats and processors in European countries such as Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Greenland, Scotland, Faroese and Holland to name a few. When using Melacide SC20, you can resolve both the health and safety and S02 residual issues. By using Melacide SC20 it enables you to have the S02 residuals in the prawn below 50 ppm even if double dipped. As the Melacide SC20 is non hazardous and non corrosive it works with the prawn to improve the overall colour and quality unlike the SMBS, which is very aggressive bleaching the shell of the prawn and dehydrating the meat. The many advantages you will get when using Melacide SC20 are as follows: 1) Melacide SC20 is the only product on the market that kills the enzyme, which causes Melanosis. 2) By using Melacide SC20 in a 2% solution (1 kilo per 50 litres of water) and dipping for minimum seven minutes (preferably 10 minutes) the S02 residuals will be between 20 and 40 ppm. If then dipped again (on land) in the same strength solution the S02 residuals will not be over 50ppm. 3) The Melacide SC20 will enhance the natural colour of the prawns and will not bleach the shell as happens when using Sodium Metabisulphite. 4) The Melacide SC20 will improve the texture of the meat and give it a firmer more crisp bite. 5) The Melacide SC20 will not taint the taste of the meat as happens with the Sodium Metabisulphite. 6) The Melacide SC20 is non-hazardous and non-corrosive. There will be no noxious fumes when mixing the product or any damage to machinery or holding tanks. 7) 1 kilo of Melacide SC20 in 50 litres of water will treat 300 kilos of prawns; 2 kilos in 100 litres of water will treat 600 kilos of prawns etc. 8) You cannot over dip using Melacide SC20. 9) When using Melacide SC20 you will improve the overall shelf life of the product.
